AC Shadows Unveils Bizarre AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a surprising crossover event that challenges usual expectations, the game developer has unveiled an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Disclosed
According to the authorized announcement, "An unusual meeting draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where rumors of forbidden practices and terrifying metamorphoses resonate through the darkness." The plot introduces a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a hidden sect.
The questline concentrates on "peculiar experiments and a monstrous adversary" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Locations and Changes
The preview features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer ends with a striking scene showing a character, presumably the captive, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Items and Additional Features
Players who successfully complete the mission will obtain an exclusive katana in addition to several artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Update
This update also adds the game's newest no-cost story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature techniques: Naoe debuts a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime properties. The series formerly showcased a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that obviously echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
